Newest license renewal guides
These are the eleven walkthroughs we published or rebuilt most recently — five state RN licenses, five LPN/LVN licenses, and the national BLS card. Each one is written from the issuing board or certifying body's own published rules: renewal window, continuing education including mandatory topics, current fees, the exact portal to file in, and what changes if the credential has already lapsed. Every page cites the regulator so you can verify it yourself.
State RN licenses
Board-specific RN renewal walkthroughs — renewal window, CE hours including any mandatory topics, fees, and the exact portal your board uses.
Arizona RN license renewal
Arizona State Board of Nursing renews RNs every four years with no general CE hour mandate but a practice-hours requirement — what counts, what to keep, and how to renew through AZBN Nurse Portal.
Alabama RN license renewal
Alabama Board of Nursing runs a biennial cycle ending December 31 of even years, with 24 contact hours including board-approved Alabama-specific content. Includes fee table and late/reinstatement path.
Tennessee RN license renewal
Tennessee renews on your birth month in even or odd years depending on birth year. Covers the CE and practice-hours options, the Apply Online portal, and what changes if you hold a multistate license.
Connecticut RN license renewal
Connecticut DPH renews RNs annually by license month through eLicense, with mandatory topic hours. Includes the fee, the grace period, and how CT works now that it has joined the compact.
Indiana RN license renewal
Indiana PLA renews RNs biennially in even years by October 31, with practice or refresher requirements rather than blanket CE. Includes portal steps and lapsed-license reinstatement.
LPN and LVN licenses
Practical and vocational nurse renewals follow different rules than the RN license in the same state — separate cycles, separate CE counts, sometimes a separate portal.
California LVN license renewal
BVNPT renews LVNs every two years with 30 contact hours. Covers what BVNPT accepts, the fee, fingerprint rules, and how the LVN cycle differs from the California RN cycle.
Texas LVN license renewal
Texas BON renews LVNs biennially by birth month with 20 contact hours plus nursing jurisprudence and ethics. Includes the Texas Nurse Portal walkthrough and audit expectations.
New York LPN license renewal
NYSED registers LPNs on a three-year cycle with infection control and child abuse coursework. Covers registration vs licensure, fees, and the Office of the Professions portal.
Florida LPN license renewal
Florida BON renews LPNs biennially with 24 hours reported through CE Broker, including mandatory Florida laws and rules and human trafficking. Includes fees and late renewal.
Pennsylvania LPN license renewal
Pennsylvania renews practical nurses biennially with 30 hours including child abuse recognition. Covers PALS (PA Licensing System) steps, fees, and what to do after a lapse.
National life-support cards
Cards that travel with you rather than with a state — the renewal clock is the card's issue date, not your license cycle.
Trust is not a licensing board and does not award CE credit. Confirm requirements on the official portal before you pay.
