You renew a Georgia paramedic license online, in the Georgia EMS License Management System (LMS) at mygemsis.org/lms. Use the "Georgia Medic Renewal" application.

If your license expires on March 31, 2027, you can renew from October 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027. The fee is $75. If you miss that date, a late fee of $75 applies, so you pay $150 in total.

For licenses that expire on or before March 31, 2028, you need 40 hours of CE that the State or CAPCE approved. The 40 hours include set minimums for pediatric, cardiovascular and trauma topics. You also need a current BLS card. Paramedics and cardiac technicians need ACLS too, and they upload both cards with the application.

You do not have to renew your NREMT certification to renew the Georgia license.

These rules come from the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma. We checked its renewal and CE pages on October 5, 2026.

Who uses this app
EMT, EMT-I, AEMT, CT, and Paramedic share the Medic Renewal path and window. EMT-Responder uses a separate EMT-R table.
Current medic window
Regular renewal for March 31, 2027 expiration: October 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027. Late for that cohort: April 1, 2027 – September 30, 2027 (+$75 late). The renewal page was last updated 10/1/2026. We checked it on October 5, 2026.
Lapsed markers
Medics with expiration 3/31/2026 or 9/30/2026 are Lapsed-Failure to Renew and cannot practice.
Fee
Bi-annual renewal $75. Late penalty +$75, so $150 total while the late window is open. Credit or debit adds $2.75 for processing.
CE now (expire on or before 3/31/2028)
40 hours State- or CAPCE-approved for EMT through Paramedic: 8 pediatric, 4 cardiovascular (STEMI and Stroke), 4 trauma, and 24 general (except CPR and ACLS topics). The 40-hour total is the same for paramedic and EMT in this cycle.
CE later (expire on or after 3/31/2029)
Level table: CT/Paramedic total 60 with topic minima. Beginning with the 2027–2029 cycle, BLS (4 hours) and ACLS (6 hours) may count toward CE under Cardiovascular.
Cards to upload
All medics: signed CPR, front and back. CT and Paramedics: signed ACLS, front and back. Maintain BLS for every medic, and ACLS for CT and Paramedic, from a Department-approved sponsor.
NREMT
Not required to renew the Georgia license. You still need the state CE hours. NREMT is required for initial Georgia medic licensure and for reinstatement after lapse.
Paper
The Office does not accept paper. You must use the LMS.
EMS Compact
Georgia is a participating EMS Compact state (emscompact.gov, enacted 2017). A Privilege to Practice in other Compact states does not renew your Georgia license. You still renew in the LMS. See /renew/national/ems-compact.

EMT vs paramedic

Georgia uses one Medic Renewal application for EMT, EMT-I, AEMT, CT and Paramedic. All five use the same window and the same portal.

This page is paramedic-led. EMT and AEMT readers use the same LMS app. Check the level hour table for 2029-and-later cohorts. EMT-Responders use a separate EMT-R path, and they do not use this medic app. Renewal fees ($75 / $150) are published for medic renewal without a separate paramedic surcharge.

Requirements

Continuing education: current cycle (licenses expiring on or before 3/31/2028). Complete 40 hours of State- or CAPCE-approved EMS CE, including:

  • 8 hours pediatric topics
  • 4 hours cardiovascular topics (STEMI and Stroke)
  • 4 hours trauma topics
  • 24 hours general EMS topics (except CPR and ACLS topics)

Only Office of EMS and Trauma-approved or CAPCE hours count. Courses approved by another State Office of EMS are reviewed case by case.

Continuing education: future cycle (licenses expiring on or after 3/31/2029). Meet the level table. For CT/Paramedic, total 60 hours with mandatory topic minima (Airway 6, Cardiovascular 7, Medical/Stroke 8, Operations 4, Pediatric 8, Trauma 5). Beginning with the 2027–2029 license cycle, you may count BLS (4 hours) and ACLS (6 hours) toward required CE. List those under Cardiovascular in the LMS Education Report.

BLS and ACLS. All EMS providers must maintain BLS from a Department-approved sponsor. Cardiac technicians and paramedics must maintain ACLS from a Department-approved sponsor.

Uploads at renewal. Have a clear, signed CPR card (front and back). CT and Paramedics also upload a clear, signed ACLS card (front and back). Enter CE into the LMS Education Report before you start the renewal application. Form 1 retires the app if hours are incomplete.

Critical Care Endorsement. If you hold a Critical Care Paramedic endorsement, the CE page lists two more items: current NREMT Paramedic certification, and board certification from IBSC or BCEN.

How to renew, step by step

  1. 01
Check your expiration date in the LMS
Go to My Account. The Office publishes renewal windows by expiration date, so the date in your account is the one that counts. If your license expired on 3/31/2026 or 9/30/2026, it is already lapsed and you cannot practice.
  2. 02
Finish CE and enter it in the LMS
Record State- or CAPCE-approved hours in Education, then My Report, before you apply. Keep certificates for audit.
  3. 03
    Gather card scans
Signed CPR, front and back, for all medics. Signed ACLS, front and back, for CT and Paramedics.
  4. 04
Log in to the LMS Public Portal
    Open the portal at mygemsis.org/lms.
  5. 05
    Open the correct application
Go to Applications, then View All Personnel Applications, then Georgia Medic Renewal (regular) or LATE Georgia Medic Renewal (late window).
  6. 06
    Form 1: Training Hours Verification
Submit Form 1 only after all your CE hours are in the LMS. If the hours are not complete, the LMS retires the application and you must start again.
  7. 07
    Form 2: Compliance Check
Residency status and criminal history since last renewal.
  8. 08
    Form 3: Workforce Study Survey
Complete the workforce study survey in the LMS application.
  9. 09
    Form 4: Renewal Information
Complete each tab. Upload your CPR card, and your ACLS card if you are a CT or paramedic. Credit or debit card is the fastest way to pay, and it adds a $2.75 fee. Sign, submit and pay. Then stay on the page until processing ends. Do not refresh it.
  10. 10
    Confirm
Check email and My Account for the new expiration, and Documents for your license card.
