NREMT Motion 24-04: no separate CPR card for Registry recert

What changed / what to know

Clinicians still ask whether a current American Heart Association (or equivalent) BLS CPR card must be uploaded to recertify with the National Registry. For National Registry recertification, the answer is no separate CPR-card requirement under current NCCP rules.

National Registry Certification Scheme — Paramedic (Policy 81.13) document history records an update on 2024-04-26 for Motion 24-04 — Removal of BLS CPR requirements, with Board of Directors approval 2024-06-11 (scheme v5). Parallel scheme histories for AEMT/EMT/EMR also list Motion 24-04.

The National Registry Recertification Guide states: “The NCCP Model does not require CPR (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). If documented, those standardized course hours may be applied to the National, Local, or Individual Components.”
