Florida paramedic certificates expire December 1, 2026

What changed / what to know

Florida runs a statewide biennial EMS personnel clock — not a birth-month expire. Per the Florida Department of Health EMT/Paramedic renewal page (verified 2026-09-18): current certificates expire at midnight, Eastern Time, on December 1, 2026.

Failure to recertify an active certificate by that date places it in Involuntary, Inactive status. Involuntary inactive certificates can remain for up to two renewal cycles (four years) before becoming null and void under DOH’s stated rules.

Paramedic fee ladder (Florida DOH page, 2026-09-18): Active → Active (before expire) $45; Active → Voluntary Inactive $50; Voluntary Inactive → Active $50; Involuntary → Active (after expire) $70.

Competency for renewal (affirmation stack on the DOH page / FAC 64J-1.009): a 30-hour refresher that includes two hours in pediatric emergencies, with current ACLS on the rule paths used by Trust’s guide — or the department exam path plus ACLS. Confirm the exact attestation language in Florida Health Source at renew time.

Who it affects

Every active Florida EMT and paramedic certificate in the current statewide cohort. This is not the Florida Board of Nursing RN calendar, and it is not the March 1 allergy-treatment expiration used for other credentials.

What to do

1. Open Florida Health Source and confirm your EMS certificate shows the December 1, 2026 expire.
2. Keep ACLS current through the attestation date.
3. Finish the 30-hour refresher (≥2 pediatric hours) or the in-cycle department exam path.
4. Renew Active→Active for $45 before midnight ET December 1, 2026.
5. If you miss the date, expect involuntary inactive and the higher return fee ($70) plus CE compliance — second-period reinstatement adds further exam requirements per DOH materials (see Trust FL guide / DH 5023 notes).
