Florida RN licenses renew every two years. Renewal requires 24 contact hours of continuing education — including mandatory courses on medical errors, Florida laws and rules, impaired professionals, and human trafficking — all reported through CE Broker before the renewal application is submitted. The renewal fee is $80.
The Florida Board of Nursing requires 24 contact hours of CE per two-year renewal cycle. Every hour must be reported to CE Broker by the CE provider — the state uses CE Broker as the system of record.
Mandatory topics that must sit inside the 24 hours:
Position CE Broker and Trust correctly: CE Broker is the state's compliance ledger. Trust complements it — it holds your certificates on your phone, reminds you at 90, 60, 30, and 7 days before your deadline, and links to CE Broker and MQA so you can act on the reminder.
Failure to renew by expiration moves the license to delinquent status. Practicing on a delinquent Florida license is unlicensed practice and can trigger discipline and criminal penalties.
See the Florida Board of Nursing licensing page for the reactivation and reinstatement pathway if the license has lapsed.
Trust reminds you at 90, 60, 30, and 7 days before your Florida deadline, stores your CE certificates on-device, and links straight to CE Broker and MQA.
